How Long Does It Take to Walk a Kilometer

I'm planning on walking a medium ish distance tomorrow there no train link/bus and I dont have access to a car, google maps has it as 24km distance, does anyone have any idea how long it would take to walk that far, I have plenty of time so thats not really issue!

According to Wikipedia, average walking speed is 5 km/h which works out to 4.8 hours. Good-luck with that.

it took me about 6hrs with a back pack on a hilly and rough terrain , so 4.5 - 5hrs

OP can you not get hold of a bike?

2 hours?! Bit bloody optimistic. They'd be half dead by the end of it.

Average person's walking pace is 4/5 kph, maybe 6 if they're fast. That puts it to 4hrs if they're speedy.

Haha did not think of that will borrow one, i r dumb!

Just under 15 miles, lol. I'd run it, but even that's a bit too far for me.

I said BRISK WALKING...Your speed is much faster when you do brisk walking.. No they won't be dead.I am a living proof of it:bigsmile:

Your definition of 'brisk walking' is 12kph (7.5mph). That's more than jogging speed. I walk quickly, far quicker than most people, and I don't really get beyond 6 or 7kph.

You really reckon you can walk that fast for that distance?

lmao, 12km/hour is brisk walking speed?

OP: It really depends on how much walking you've done before, and whether you're carrying anything, and also what the terrain is like.

If it's hilly, and you're carrying heavy bags, don't expect to do more than 3 to 4 Km/hr.
If you haven't got good socks and footwear you could end up with huge blisters, especially if it's damp.
I'd say it will take you 6-8 hours. (remember, you do need to take rest stops for lunch and stuff!) Remember to bring plenty of water with you.

Yes because i have supernatural powers:bl:

Which is another way of saying you know you're wrong.

Cheers all very helpful advice.

It's possible but if you're not used to walking long distances and are anything like me you'll probably get a bit depressed half way through.

12km/h walking speed?

When i used to run 5k in just over 25 minutes that was slower than your walking speed and we had competitive powerwalkers that would do the 5k in about 26 minutes and these were professionals.

A quick walking pace is 8km/h from when i used to hike and that would still make it 3 hours but more like 5 hours for a regular pace.

I have walked from my university to my home and it took me 4 hours and 30-ish minutes; The distance was 22.5 kilometers.

Today I walked 24.78km. In 203 minutes. I took 34.701 steps and lost 743 kcal. I'm 29 years old and I weigh 59 to 64 kg.I still have 5km left to get home. I'm at my friends smoking weed. I walk this much every day, this might be unusual to some people but 300 to 500 years ago this walk normal to them.I hope this is helpful to you. Peace ⚖️
